Coralburst Crabapple — the Best Small Flowering Tree for Denver Yards
A compact, disease-resistant crabapple with coral-pink double blooms — perfect for the tight lots and mature streetscapes of Denver's historic neighborhoods.
Malus 'Coralburst' is the small flowering tree we specify more than any other for Denver front yards. It stays around 12–15 feet tall and wide, blooms in a rich coral-pink that softens to pale pink as flowers open, and — critically — is highly resistant to the apple scab and fire blight that plague most crabapples in our climate.
That combination makes it ideal for tight urban lots in Wash Park, Platt Park, and Bonnie Brae where a full-size ornamental tree would overwhelm the space. It's also a beautiful choice for courtyards and side-yard focal points.
'Coralburst' tolerates Denver's alkaline soil and dry summers once established. Plant in full sun for the best bloom show, mulch generously, and prune only for structure in late winter.
